WELCOME FELLOW TRAVELERS, TO MY CORNER OF THE WORLD!
Hi fellow travelers! My name is Caroline and I'm a self-described jet-setting travel journalist.

There was no epiphany of wanting to be a travel journalist. Instead, this career was already etched in my bones, and it took me being in the same place for too long to realize that I feed off of a need to "just go."
​
I graduated with an English degree in the second year of the COVID pandemic, and this really put me (and many others) in a precarious position. After much debate and self-sabotage, I started this portfolio and blog in January 2022 and I hope that it will inspire you to open your eyes to a very different, beautiful, and dynamic world that we have around us.

HOW MY LOVE OF TRAVEL BEGAN
Long story short - I have really cool, well-traveled aunts. One of which used to study in France, and the other traveled around Eastern Europe for her job doing climate work. Growing up, these two aunts would take my brother and I on trips to unlikely destinations, including South Dakota and Pennsylvania Amish country. Through these trips, I was able to slowly develop an appreciation for cultures and places that one wouldn't immediately seek out compared to others. It is my mission to share my love of these cultures and places with you so that you're able to explore my corner of the world and discover its hidden gems.

STAYING IN A MIX OF HOSTELS AND HOTELS - A BALANCE TO ME IS ALWAYS PREFERRED!

AN OCCASIONAL RED-EYE FLIGHT - YES, I KNOW! RED-EYES CAN BE UNAPPEALING TO MOST, BUT I ENJOY THE EXCITEMENT THAT I FEEL WHEN SPENDING THE NIGHT IN THE SKY.

WHEN TRAVEL DESTINATIONS ARE "OVERHYPED" DUE TO SOCIAL MEDIA - I BELIEVE THAT EACH PLACE HAS SOMETHING VALUABLE TO OFFER, BUT SOME PLACES UNDOUBTEDLY FALL FLAT IF YOU GO IN WITH CERTAIN EXPECTATIONS. I LIKE TO MAKE MY OWN DECISIONS ON WHETHER I LIKE A PLACE OR NOT BASED OFF OF MY OWN EXPERIENCE!

HAVING MULTIPLE LAYOVERS WHEN I FLY - I WOULD RATHER SPLURGE ON A DIRECT FLIGHT IF THERE IS ONE TO GET TO MY DESTINATION QUICKER!
